Youth Spaces & Leadership Opportunities

Our Youth Services’ team offers a range of services that build a community of young people who are connected, aware, and informed.

Our services are universal, primarily preventative, and use a “wrap-around” community-based service approach to address age-appropriate needs along a continuum; from recreation to social services. Valuing the diversity of youth, the Youth Services’ team responds to youths' unique needs, and engages them in spaces in West Vancouver.

We provide youth with access to appropriate information and resources to assist in improving their overall health and well-being, through community outreach, one-to-one and group support, programs and activities, special events, drop-in activities, and coordinated service delivery with partner organizations.

Hub of Youth Services

The West Vancouver Hub of Youth Services brings together representatives from community organizations with a connection to youth services in West Vancouver. Through a collaborative, coordinated, and community-based approach, the goal of these partner organizations is to improve the quality, access, and delivery of services to youth and their families.

For more info about the West Vancouver Hub of Youth Services, please contact the Youth Services & Community Recreation Manager Supervisor at 604-925-7244.

Health & Safety

The District of West Vancouver is continuing to gradually resume programs and services and re-open community centres and cultural facilities that were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The safety of the community remains our highest priority and health and safety measures have been developed for all programs and facilities to protect participants and staff. Following the success of the outdoor summer programs and camps and the re-opening of the fitness centres in July, we are happy to announce that the District will re-open community recreation facilities on a pilot basis. To ensure that physical distancing is maintained, all facilities will have limited activities and capacities. Hours of operation will also be reduced. Access will be restricted to pre-registered participants or scheduled user groups for all programs and facilities. All planned re-opening dates are contingent upon the province’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, the continued operation of the District’s community recreation facilities will be evaluated against safety, staffing, and financial criteria to determine their ongoing operational viability.

For more information about program offerings, registration dates and details, health and safety, and further updates about the status of recreation and cultural facilities, visit westvancouverrec.ca/fallupdate. We thank you for your continued patience and support as we gradually welcome you back.
