Registration for February and March programs, including Spring Break Camps opens on Wed, February 3.

Skating Lesson Information

Currently we will only be offering 30-minute private lessons and semi private lessons with the intent to gradually progress to small group lessons (max 3 students) later in the season.

Semi Private Lessons are available for two members of the same household. Please register for Semi Private Lessons under one students name and then list both names when prompted in the registration process.

For Private and Semi Private lessons, a brief skill assessment will be done on the first day and then the rest of the learning will be customized to suit each student’s skill level.

For 3 to 6 year old lessons, a parent/guardian must accompany the child on the ice for the first day. The parent/guardian can be on skates or ice grippers (which can be provided). After the first lesson, the instructor will determine if the parent/guardian needs to remain on ice for future lessons. This is to ensure the child can operate independently in the lesson and to maintain physical distancing with the instructor.

First day of lessons

What to expect when you arrive:

Show up 10 minutes before your scheduled lesson time (please do not arrive earlier or later than this time).  Wait outside the Ice Arena South doors on the 'Wait Here' markers. A staff member will check you in, ask you COVID-19 screening questions, and direct you to a spot inside where you can put your skates on.

Please come skate-ready wearing all the appropriate clothes.  The change rooms will be closed. Washrooms will be available.

What to expect during your visit:
After you have been checked-in at the front door, you will be led to an area to get your skates on. This will be your dedicated area to change, leave bags, and view the lesson from.  Dress warmly as the area is located in the bleachers at ice level.  Please do not accompany your child with more than one adult. A staff member will then provide a lesson orientation and check if you need skate and helmet rentals.

Rental skates and helmets are available if needed and included in the lesson cost. They are cleaned and disinfected after each use.

A skate instructor will call out your name when it is your turn to get on the ice and start your lesson.  At the end of the lesson the participant will be led back to their designated changing spot.  Please leave within 10 minutes of the end of your lesson and exit out of your assigned exit doors.

As a reminder, please maintain at least two-metres or six-feet distance from staff and other guests during your visit.
