SOCIALLY ACTIVE: MAKING FRIENDS IN WEST VANCOUVER
As the West Vancouver community is continuously growing in diversity of backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and identities we are pleased to launch Socially Active—an exciting new program designed to connect newcomers with long-time West Vancouver residents! Enjoy interactive activities such as nature walks, cooking, fitness, or arts either in an in-person or virtual setting.
This program has been adapted to meet COVID-19 safety protocols. If you are an English language learner and need some language support to participate, we will do our best to find you support.

Socially Active - Monday Walk (free)
Come out for an easy walk, rain or shine, Vancouver style! As a COVID-19 safety measure, participants will be paired to start a walk at staggered times, to avoid group walking.

Have you tried cooking with vegetarian recipes? Join us to learn how to make an Indian-style vegetarian curry with chickpeas and cauliflower, as well as fudge chocolate brownies for dessert!
OTHER NEWCOMER INITIATIVES
The Tax Clinic offers FREE income tax filing services for low income household, from March 1 to May 30.
To qualify for assistance, taxpayers must have a maximum total family income of: $35,000 for a single or $45,000 for a couple.
Drop off of customer tax information packages is at the SAC front desk. Packages quarantine for 72 hours before pickup. Processing can take 7-10 business days.
Customers will be called when their packages are ready for pickup.

Online ESL English Conversation Class with Janet (low cost)
Let your "quarantine skill" be improved English, from the safety of your home!
An experienced Canadian ESL instructor will cover useful topics to improve your English vocabulary and grammar to survive the pandemic period better. The class also aims to help you to take part more fully in the community by speaking more English and understanding community resources. The weekly topics include health & pandemic, small talk, food, government services and Canadian culture.
Participation with video camera and audio is required in this interactive class. Suited for intermediate English learners.
