Skating Program Descriptions

The course descriptions below outline all hockey and skating lessons offered at the West Vancouver Ice Arena. Once you have found a course that is appropriate, please review the lesson charts to find the day and time that fits with your schedule.

Adult Ice Basics

Whether you are a beginner skater, a bit rusty or would just like some help brushing up on your skills, this is the perfect course! Instructors will tailor the course to the participants. Drop-in spots are available.

Open Stick and Puck (13 years +)

Join us for a drop-in opportunity to practice shooting and stick skills. Players must be minimum 13 years-old or Pee Wee players with full gear. Helmet with a cage or visor, hockey gloves and hockey stick with plug are mandatory. Ten spots available for pre-registration, remaining spots are first come, first served. For pre-registered spots, you must check in at the front desk within 10 min. of the start time or your spot will be offered for drop-ins.

Intro to Adult Hockey Skills

This co-ed class is for total hockey beginners. It is ideal for adults who want to learn hockey skills and are new skaters or those that can skate but have never had a stick in their hands before. Participants will learn the fundamentals of skating, passing, stick handling, and shooting. This is a basic class designed for true beginners only. Full gear recommended but the minimum requirements are gloves, stick, skates, and a helmet. Helmets and skates are available for rent. Drop-in spots are available.

Adult Co-ed Hockey Skills & Drills

This adult co-ed program offers hockey specific drills that focus on stick and skating skills and positional play. Fitness and general conditioning will also be developed. This class is great for those wanting to improve their game and get extra ice time. Goalies play for free. Full gear is required. Drop-in spots are available.
