Did you know that according to leading psychologists, genetics play a very small part in human longevity?
The most important factor in a long and fulfilling life is daily positive face-to-face interaction, which also results in a much lower rate of Dementia than among those who spend a lot of time alone. Keeping Connected offers many interesting and relevant programs each week for our seniors to choose from. Our trained and caring staff team will help overcome the barriers to participation. We pick up people in the neighbourhood and bring them to programs, and provide one-on-one volunteer support when needed. We also provide reminder calls about programs.
If you or someone you know struggles with a loss, or is isolated in their home, these programs could be a great fit, and a start to living a fuller, and more fulfilling life.

Are you or a loved one feeling isolated/alone/in need? Allow our compassionate and knowledgeable team of volunteers to help. A simple phone call, a home visit or a ride to a medical appointment can be accommodated.

Are you living with memory loss? Do you have a family member who is living with dementia, or are you simply curious about what it all means? Please join us for another jubilant celebration of what it means to live well with Alzheimer’s disease. The Café provides an informative and welcoming environment for participants to appreciate and learn from each other. Lunch will be served.
Is balance and leg strength something you want to improve? Jayson will lead this class in the activity room and the focus will be maintaining balance and leg strength. Adaptations are fully acceptable and we will work with whatever limitations you might be experiencing. Leg strength and balance contribute to longevity and health, join in!
Adapted Chair Yoga
Join us for yoga from the safety and comfort of your chair. We will make simple adaptations to support your needs. For participants' safety there are no floor exercises in this class, no mat needed.
Stimulate your mind and memories as you explore different forms of art in this hands-on program. Caregivers are welcome to attend.
Caregiver Support Group
The group meets weekly to support caregivers navigate the ever-changing challenges that dementia brings. It is a safe setting for sharing information, insight, advice, and encouragement. We provide an opportunity to learn from others who face the same challenges and allow you to talk about your experiences
Introducing a new program designed for those living with Alzheimer’s. Join us for 2 hours of activities. We will be reminiscing, playing games, creating art and appreciating life together. Our aim is to promote independence, choice, well being and person centered care. Run by qualified and compassionate caregiver. Morning snack will be provided. Limit of 6 per class.

Flower Arranging Workshop
Every season is known for its own greens and flowers, and there's nothing quite like a bucket full of seasonal greens! Learn how to make a wide bouquet, and leave with a handful of beauty and a smile! Vase and flowers will be provided.
Start your day with your head high and heart open. Practice living with gratitude—it is a powerful and transformative tool. Join us for a morning meditation and set your good intentions for the day.
High Tea Party
Bring your best smile and party outfit to have a visit and tea party. Special teas will be served and of course snacks. Enjoy drinking tea and being "proper" for an afternoon!
In the Kitchen with Simone
Come into the SAC commercial kitchen and make some special treats. Class led by Chef Simone. All ages welcome. You will come away with a smile and some goodies!
Keep on Moving
Take the effort out of staying active! This exercise class is designed for older men experiencing decreasing strength. Participants will work on strength and flexibility exercises seated in a chair.
Keep Well Society offers their program weekly which involves a mild exercise class. For information about Keep Well please call their office at 604-988-7115.

Ladies' Social Club
Ladies, join this social group to enjoy discussion, mental aerobics, games, and entertainment. A lively bunch with never a dull moment. Beware of occasional tea breaks and bouts of laughter.
This group of gentleman meet weekly for a lively discussion of current affairs. Enjoy mental stimulation and social connections, and have a bit of fun.
Memory and Movement
Exercise your body and mind! Join us for a bit of movement and social time all rolled into one visit. Start with a stretch and some mild exercise, followed by tea time, and some socializing. This course is designed for those living with memory loss and their partners or caregivers. Participants must attend with a friend, caregiver, or loved one. Cost of program includes two participants.

Time for a little movement and social time all rolled into one visit! Start out with a stretch and some mild exercise, followed by tea time and a little socializing. This is to exercise your body and mind! This course is designed for those living with memory loss and their partners or caregivers.
Participants must attend with a friend, caregiver or loved one. Cost of program is the price for two people.
Welcome back Musical Mondays!
Join with friends for an afternoon of conversation and music in a coffee house setting at the SAC. Each month we will enjoy a different performer. Everyone welcome. Cost: $6 Roberto Risman will play the guitar and sing old tunes. Sing along is optional but highly recommended.
Pick up the Pace
Lift your spirits and your heart rate in this new class designed to get the blood flowing. Get ready for some fun and movement! This class will be done from a standing position.
Get messy with clay in a special clay creation class led by Julie! Create a simple pinch pot and learn coiling and embossing techniques.
Reading Remedy Book Club
Avid readers, come join! We are looking for participants who are passionate about reading and discussion to take part in this novel discussion initiative with our youth every six weeks. Refreshments will be served. This fun book club will explore a new book every session.
Screen time for Seniors
Learn more about your phones, tablets, laptops, and more! Students from Collingwood can help you learn all about technology and answer any questions you have. Learn how to use apps, facetime, email, apps, QR code setup and general troubleshooting.***Must bring your own device.
Do you want to improve your posture and core? Learn basic exercises that will help restore muscle imbalance and spinal alignment allowing you to stand tall.
A chance for the Keeping Connected participants to meet and explore the upcoming program offerings .This will take place on our Terrace. A great way to reconnect, share a meal and make new friends.
Stretch and Movement
Enjoy this uplifting class through movement and music in an enjoyable, safe and creative class for people living with Parkinson's and other physical challenges. Maintain a sense of confidence and grace in movement through the fundamentals of stretch. Peter, your instructor will use chairs for stability and ease of movement, while building strength, balance and mobility. NOTE: Caregivers must register, but at no charge.

A fun and upbeat yoga class. Whether new to chair yoga or looking for a safe and gentle exercise this could be a great fit for you! Throughout class you will learn breathing techniques, movement, alignment, strengthening, stretching- with some toe tapping and smiles to go around! A little sitting and a little standing with variations that are best for you.
