Online Adult Volunteer Orientation

Gain an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue - education, judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness. Learn tows and carries along with defense and release methods in preparation for rescues involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types, and develop stroke efficiency in a timed swim. 100% attendance is mandatory. Prerequisite: Must be 13 years old or hold Bronze Star.

Swim: Bronze Cross

Gain an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue - education, judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness. Learn tows and carries along with defense and release methods in preparation for rescues involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types, and develop stroke efficiency in a timed swim. 100% attendance is mandatory. Prerequisite: Must hold Bronze Medallion to register and must show proof of this award on the first day of class.

Swim: NL Pool (National Lifeguard)

Take your first step towards becoming a certified lifeguard. Prerequisite: You must be 15 years old, hold a Bronze Cross (does not need to be current) and a Standard First Aid/CPR C/AED award (must be current).

Swim: Lifesaving and Swim Instructor

Register for the new "Lifesaving and Swim Instructor" course. Upon successful completion of this course, one will receive two certifications - the Swim for Life Instructor as well as Lifesaving Instructors. The Swim for Life Program prepares candidates to teach the new Swim for Life Program (starting January 2023) and Lifesaving Instructors includes teaching Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross.  Prerequisite: 15 years old and Bronze Cross.

Swim: Standard First Aid/CPR C/AED

Learn about airway breathing and circulation problems for an adult, child and infant plus injuries due to heat and cold, fractures, bleeding, burns, poisons, medical conditions, bone and joint injuries and head and spinal injuries. This is a prerequisite for the NL program. Also includes CPR C and AED. This course will be deemed equivalent to Worksafe Occupational Level 1 First Aid.
